Moving on Without you

So, my dad, my best friend, passed away two weeks ago today. I thought I would end both of my blogs and start new with another one, but I realized dad wouldn't have wanted that. He would want me to be happy and keep going. He only wanted the best for me. The only person in this world who loved me no matter what and would never have stopped.

I feel like someone has handed me someone elses life to live. Like this really isn't my life. But I guess it is. And if it is, I'm not sure how to live it. Before I had everything figured out - how my life would be, where I would go, where I would stay. And now everything is so confusing. It is like I'm starting all over.

Everyone keeps telling me I'll be able to do it and I'm sure I will, too. I just hope, Dad, that you are out there watching me every day and guiding me through it all. I will never stop needing you. I love you Dad.

New Year's Resolutions

Okay, so it's that time of year when we all make resolutions. I did the standard 'I'm going to lose the weight this year that I couldn't last year and, well, the year before that.' Thought about being more charitable, being more patient, staying more committed to finishing a project. Those are all great. But honestly, I really don't have a resolution this year. I guess to really experience life is what I want to promise myself. Take that big leap of faith and see where it takes me. I'm not sure where I will be but the journey is the adventure, right? Not the destination. I'm very much looking forward to 2012. I'll be able to look back in 2013 and every year thereafter and say to myself 'that was one hell of a year"

Watching You

Is it silly to look through all my photos and want to cry. I see photos of people who were with me and now are gone. I've seen myself as a child and now with my own. I see the way people were and no longer are. I see how fast time has gone by already - seeing it all through pictures. I wish for one moment time would stand still and I could hold on to that perfect little moment forever. Though, I'm not sure which moment I would like to freeze. There are so many of them, which, luckily for me, means I've been blessed with the most amazing life and I will never take what God has given me for granted.

Through Her Eyes

I love Disneyland. Wouldn't need to go with anyone and I would still have an amazing time. But luckily I am here with Vanessa. It was so great to see her on the rides I went on as a kid and watch her reaction. When we went on Pinochio, I watched as her face lit up looking at all the coo-koo clocks. Are as she pulled my hand towards Dumbo. Every moment with her melts my heart and makes me thank God for blessing me with the most amazing gift ever. Couldn't ask for something more perfect.

Now for the shopping. I am weak. Real weak. There is a sweater, Dooney and Burke bag, hat, and some shoes that I would all like to take home with me. Please come home with me.

Looking Back

I guess you can say I'm someone who dwells on the past - for good or bad, I definitely review, analyze and conclude everything that has happened to me. Some of it makes sense and some of it doesn't. The funny thing about my obsession with my past, is that it almost doesn't feel like it is mine. It almost feels like I watched it all happen in a movie. Kind of like watching Forrest Gump with the exception of me wearing braces on my legs and running across the country (though that is on my bucket list). I wonder if I am so focused on my past that I don't think of my future. But maybe that isn't true. I do like to plan ahead. Do I live in the present? I hope so. There is a lot to live for right now!

Someone in bible study asked me if I knew what my name was. I didn't and she told me that it meant victorious. Victorious - hmmmm.... What will be my victory or have I already experienced it and I was too busy to notice. Will I come from the bottom and rise to the top. All from a name.

Hello Fall!

Finally Finally!!! My favorite month of the whole year has arrived and it brought with it everything I love about October. So, here is my list of why October takes the crown of the best month of the year (though I do enjoy the other one's. just not as much as October :))

4. cool breeze nights
5. warm stews for dinner
6. big fluffy socks to wear at night
7. time to relax earlier at night
8. halloween movies and shows
9. halloween period (favorite Holiday also!)
10. getting to make vanessa's costume

12. knee-high boots with knee-high socks
13. Nevada city red-colored trees
14. apple cinnamon donuts from apple hill
15. knitting while watching old movies
16. halloween parties
17. pumpkin spice lattes from Starbucks (yes I am addicted to Starbucks. If there were meetings for them, I would go because I desperately need help)

19. Laser show at Nats on Halloween Night
20. Boo in the Zoo!
21. Ran my first half marathon and another one the day before Halloween.
22. Taking pictures of the beautiful scenery

Nothing to Write About

It seems that I have been pretty bad about keeping up on my writing here. Sorry about that. And here I am and I have absolutely nothing to write about. Don't have a topic to discuss, something to review or a funny story to tell. Just a bunch of nothing. Nothing can be nice sometimes. Starting my day with nothing. Ending my day with nothing. Just a whole lot of nothing. Nothing Nothing Nothing. Well, when nothing becomes something, I will keep you posted :)

Jiminy Crickets!

Watching Snow White right now and one of the dwarfs says Jiminy Crickets. Now this came out before Pinocchio, so can anyone tell me the origin of the phrase? Also, watching the movie makes me excited for my annual trip to Disneyland. Can't Wait!!!

So I am tired of reality television and its over done drama. I decided that I need to start watching soap operas and get the good stuff. So here I am beginning my addiction to Days of our Lives. Nice

Vintage Laura

I'm sitting in an open house right now and loving this home. Now this is the same home I commented on a long time ago and I was going on and on about how much I love it. It is completely vintage. Wood paneling, old sconces and light fixtures. The house looks like something that came out of the Rat Pack, but you know what? I love it. I could wear a little apron and bake cookies all day and do craft projects with the kids. Weekends would consist of backyard bbq's with Brian at the grill and me tending to my guests. I love this house!
